Large spaces can be a rarity in Provencal farmhouses, where rooms often interconnect and ceiling heights tend to be low. The solution for expanding this house and adding a generous living room was the addition of a discreetly positioned veranda equipped with essential solar protection and air conditioning. Large-format stone-toned tiles were used throughout the house to visually unify and enlarge the rooms, ensuring all areas were on the same level.
The apparent stones in the living room wall and the exposed staircase serve as reminders of the place’s historical character, while the oak doors provide a warm contrast to the soft hues of plastered walls. The kitchen blends modernity with tradition, featuring a central island that connects seamlessly with the dining room, now comfortably housed in the veranda. This arrangement allows family and friends to come together in a welcoming space, fostering a sense of togetherness.
